On-Mountain Restaurant Reservations: Gondola Dinners That Book

George Yates · Founder, SeatSwiper · Updated October 27, 2026

Which on-mountain and gondola restaurants take reservations, and how do you get up to them?Several book on OpenTable, Resy or SevenRooms, and the ride is the part to check. The Roundhouse (Sun Valley), Hazie’s (Steamboat) and Everett’s 8800 (Big Sky) include the lift with dinner, Telluride’s gondola to Allred’s is free for everyone, and Banff’s Sky Bistro needs a separate gondola ticket. Windows run from about 30 days at Everett’s to about 181 at Allred’s, Hazie’s and Fireside Dining.

Try it on one table

A mountain restaurant reservation is really two bookings: a table, and a way up to it. Get the second one wrong and the first is worth nothing, because the last gondola, the chairlift and the ticket window all keep their own hours. Some rooms fold the ride into the reservation, some make you buy it separately, a few are lunch-only in winter, and a couple are not on a lift at all. Below, the on-mountain restaurants that book on OpenTable, Resy or SevenRooms are sorted by the question that decides your evening, how you get there, with each one’s booking window as it stood in October 2026.

The ride is part of the reservation

These are the simplest to plan: book the table and the lift comes with it. The catch is that the reservation time usually means the time you board, not the time you sit down.

Where the ride is a separate ticket

Banff’s Sulphur Mountain is the main case of a dinner reservation that does not get you up the hill. Both restaurants at the summit need a Banff Gondola admission on top of the table, so budget for it and book the gondola time to match.

Lunch on the hill, and what non-skiers need

At midday the question changes from “how do I get up” to “does my lift ticket cover it”. Skiers ride up anyway; the person in your group who is not skiing is the one to plan around.

At The Roundhouse, lunch needs a reservation and a foot-traffic pass for the gondola, bought at the River Run ticket window on the day. At Everett’s 8800, lunch is daily and Big Sky hands non-skiers with a lunch booking a complimentary lift ticket at the window. Piste Mountain Bistro at the top of Jackson Hole’s Bridger Gondola books on Resy, and its winter is a lunch season: from December 17, 2026 to closing day it runs table service with a last seating at 2:30pm. Its dinners, and the free gondola ride that comes with a dinner booking, are a summer thing, starting June 13, so do not plan a winter evening around it. The resort also notes Piste can close for private events or weather. At Copper Mountain, Forage & Feast is the full-service room in the lodge at the top of the American Eagle lift, on OpenTable about 90 days ahead.

No lift at all: by car, sleigh or skis

In the Alps, daytime huts and a few evenings

Alpine mountain restaurants are mostly lunch places, and the evening is the exception you book around. Berghaus Tirol (OpenTable, Kitzbühel) sits at 1,750 metres on the Hahnenkamm and opens daily from November 27, 9:00 to 16:45 (17:45 on Saturdays); every Friday it adds a hut evening from 18:00 to 23:00, reached only by the Hahnenkammbahn, and its OpenTable book runs about 62 days ahead. Le Refuge (SevenRooms, Val d’Isère), at the top of Solaise at 2,551 metres, serves lunch daily from 12:00 to 15:30; its own site opens dinner to non-guests on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only, with the other nights kept for the hotel. Langosteria St. Moritz(SevenRooms) is on the Corviglia slopes at Chesa Chantarella, reached by funicular, with no published booking window. The wider Alpine list is in the Alps guide.

Full disclosure: SeatSwiper is my product. Everything in this guide works without it. The last section explains where it helps and exactly what it costs.

When the mountain dinner is full

Most of these rooms have a small dining room and one or two sittings, so the winter book fills early and then moves only when somebody cancels, often inside the last two days when a fee starts to apply. That return is what SeatSwiper watches for. Tell it the restaurant, the night, the party size and the times that work, and it books the table on OpenTable, Resy or SevenRooms the moment one comes back, on your own account and in your name. It books the table only: it cannot buy a gondola ticket, a sleigh seat or a ski pass, and it cannot help at a room that books elsewhere. It needs your reservation account connected and it can lose a race for a single table. Your first booking is free, then a flat $5 when it actually books the table, with no subscription, and a cancellation watch costs $1 to start, charged when the watch begins.

FAQ

Is the gondola included with an on-mountain dinner reservation?

At some rooms, yes. The Roundhouse in Sun Valley includes gondola access with its prix fixe dinner, Hazie’s in Steamboat includes the ride, and Everett’s 8800 at Big Sky includes the Ramcharger 8 chairlift with dinner. Telluride’s gondola is free for everyone until midnight. Banff is the exception: both summit restaurants need a separate Banff Gondola ticket unless you buy a package that includes it.

Do you need a lift ticket to eat lunch at an on-mountain restaurant?

Usually, unless the restaurant says otherwise. The Roundhouse requires a lunch reservation plus a foot-traffic gondola pass bought at the River Run ticket window on the day. Big Sky gives non-skiers with an Everett’s 8800 lunch reservation a complimentary lift ticket at the window.

How far ahead can you book The Roundhouse in Sun Valley?

As of October 2026 its OpenTable book runs about 121 days ahead, and each new date opens at 9:00am Mountain time. Winter reservations were already open in October, and dinner includes the gondola ride up.

Does Piste Mountain Bistro serve dinner in winter?

Not according to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s page. From December 17, 2026 to closing day Piste runs a table-service lunch at the top of the Bridger Gondola, last seating 2:30pm, booked on Resy. Its dinners, with a free gondola ride for anyone holding a reservation, are a summer season starting June 13.
