Steamboat Restaurant Reservations: An All-OpenTable Ski Town

George Yates · Founder, SeatSwiper · Updated October 27, 2026

How far ahead do you need to book dinner in Steamboat Springs?Every restaurant on our Steamboat list books on OpenTable, and the books are long: Primrose, Bésame, Mambo Italiano and Cypress run about a year ahead, Hazie’s and Yampa Valley Kitchen about six months, Café Diva and Truffle Pig about 90 days, and Laundry and Mazzola’s about 60. Dates roll on at midnight Mountain, so book the long ones when you book lodging and watch the 60-day rooms for holiday nights.

Steamboat has about the simplest platform picture a ski town can have, and it is still easy to get wrong. All 21 restaurants on our Steamboat list take reservations on OpenTable. There is no Resy page to check and no SevenRooms link hidden on a hotel site. The catch is how far out those books run. Five of them reach about a year ahead, so the far edge of the calendar is already late October 2027, and there is no morning when a March Saturday at Primrose first appears. The contest is for the specific Saturdays and holiday nights that people planning further ahead than you took months ago.

How far each Steamboat book reaches

As of October 2026, here is how far each of the restaurants below lets you book on OpenTable. None of them publishes a release hour, so every new date rolls on at midnight Mountain time and is simply there in the morning.

The two-month books are where the date matters most. For Laundry or Mazzola’s on New Year’s Eve, the night to look is the turn from October 31 into November 1, Mountain time. For everything above them, the move is to book dinner the same day you book lodging, because the restaurant’s calendar has been open to everyone else for as long as it has been open to you. Booking months in advance covers the habits that make that work.

What a year-long book changes

A year of lead time attracts reservations from people whose plans are not fixed yet: next season’s family trip, a group still collecting deposits, a weekend pencilled in before anyone has bought a lift ticket. Some of those plans fall apart, so on the long books the returned tables can arrive at any point in the winter rather than only in a burst the day before, and a cancellation watch on a year-out room has the whole season to work with. Read the policy line before you book, since a card-held reservation you cannot use costs real money; restaurant cancellation policies explains what to look for.

Downtown, the mountain, and the bus between them

Most of this list is downtown in Steamboat Springs, on Lincoln Avenue and on Yampa Street by the river: Primrose, Cypress and Aurum on Yampa, Laundry on 11th Street, Yampa Valley Kitchen on 9th, and Bésame, Mambo Italiano, Tahk, Table 79 and Mazzola’s on Lincoln. Three are at the mountain. Café Diva is at Ski Time Square, Truffle Pig sits beside One Steamboat Place and the gondola, and Hazie’s is up the gondola at Thunderhead. The city’s Steamboat Springs Transit buses are free and link downtown with the mountain area, so a dinner on the other side of town does not need a car. Check the winter timetable for the last run before you book a late table.

Closed is not the same as full

Two of the mountain rooms are shut right now, and an empty calendar during a closure looks exactly like a sold-out one. Café Diva says it is closed for the season from October 25 and reopens November 18. Truffle Pig says it is closed for shoulder season and reopens on December 10, 2026. Look at the dates after those reopenings before you decide either one is gone.

Hazie’s: dinner up the gondola

Hazie’s is the resort’s own dining room at Thunderhead Lodge, and its listing sets out how dinner works: reservations on most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (the resort’s own page adds Sundays), required on OpenTable with a credit card to hold, and the gondola ride included. You check in with the gondola host at the bottom at your reserved time, so that time is when you need to be at the base, not when you sit down upstairs. Its book runs about 181 days. On-mountain restaurant reservations compares how gondola dinners book in other ski towns.

Fourteen Steamboat tables

Booking for eight or more? The year-out rooms give a group the most room to plan, and group ski-trip dinners covers how to split or size a large table.

Full disclosure: SeatSwiper is my product. Everything in this guide works without it. The last section explains where it helps and exactly what it costs.

One account covers the whole town

In Steamboat the hard part is rarely the edge of the calendar. It is the Saturday someone else took in August. SeatSwiper watches for that table to come back: tell it the restaurant, the dates and the party size, and it books the moment a match appears, or the moment Laundry’s or Mazzola’s 60-day book reaches your night at midnight. Because every room on this list is on OpenTable, connecting your own OpenTable account is all the setup the whole town needs (it also covers Resy and SevenRooms elsewhere). It books in your name, for your dinner, and never resells or transfers a table. The first booking is free, then a flat $5 only when it actually books the table, no subscription; a cancellation watch costs $1 to start, charged when the watch begins even if no table opens. It works only on those three platforms and it can lose the race for a returned table. For how Steamboat’s timing compares with the other ski towns, see how far ahead to book a ski trip dinner.

FAQ

Do Steamboat restaurants use OpenTable or Resy?

OpenTable. All 21 restaurants on our Steamboat list take reservations there, from Café Diva at the mountain to Primrose and Mazzola’s downtown. Laundry also links to reservations and a waitlist on Yelp from its own site, so check both for that one.

How far in advance can you book Primrose in Steamboat?

As of October 2026, Primrose’s OpenTable book runs about 365 days ahead, as do Bésame, Mambo Italiano and Cypress. No release hour is published, so new dates roll on at midnight Mountain. With a book that long, the best time to reserve is the day you book your lodging.

How do dinner reservations at Hazie’s work?

Hazie’s is the resort’s dining room at Thunderhead Lodge, reached by gondola. Its listing says dinner reservations are required on OpenTable with a credit card to hold, the gondola ride is included, and you check in with the gondola host at the bottom at your reserved time. Dinner runs on most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and the book reaches about 181 days ahead.

Why is a Steamboat restaurant’s calendar empty in November?

Often because it is closed for shoulder season, not sold out. Café Diva says it is closed from October 25 and reopens November 18, and Truffle Pig says it reopens December 10, 2026. Check dates after the reopening before deciding a room is full.
