The Commerce Inn Reservations (NYC): Resy, 14 Days Out, Walk-Ins

SeatSwiper watches The Commerce Inn on Resy, SevenRooms or OpenTable, then books it in your name the moment a table opens or someone cancels. First booking free.
Watch The Commerce Inn for meThe Commerce Inn sits at 50 Commerce Street, on the corner of Commerce and Barrow in the West Village, and it comes from Rita Sodi and Jody Williams, the chefs behind I Sodi, Via Carota and Buvette. The restaurant calls itself “an early American tavern and cookery,” and the look is Shaker: plaster walls, linen on the tables, wooden floors and a block of ice behind the bar. It opened in December 2021 in a 1911 carriage house that had already been Blue Mill Tavern, Grange Hall, Commerce and Fifty. If you searched for the commerce inn reservations, or commerce inn nyc reservations, the short answer is that it books on Resy, releases a limited number of tables two weeks out, and keeps its door open to walk-ins all day. The rest of this guide, as of October 2026, covers which app is the real one, the hour nobody publishes, which meals are easy and which one is not, and how to use the tavern side.
Is The Commerce Inn on Resy or OpenTable?
Resy. The only booking link on thecommerceinn.com goes to The Commerce Inn’s Resy page, and the Michelin Guide listing points to Resy too. I found no OpenTable or SevenRooms page for it. One small trap: the link on the restaurant’s own site still carries a date from November 2021 and a party of one in its address, so when Resy opens, set your date and party size yourself before you conclude nothing is available.
Two near-misses cause most of the confusion online. OpenTable still keeps a page for Fifty, the restaurant that held 50 Commerce Street until it closed in 2018, so an OpenTable search for the address leads to a restaurant that no longer exists. And Cafe Commerce, Harold Moore’s place on Lexington Avenue on the Upper East Side, revives the name of his old Commerce, which once occupied this same building. Resy’s blog said in January 2025 that Cafe Commerce opens reservations 14 days ahead at midnight, and some search summaries have since attached that midnight to The Commerce Inn. It is a different restaurant with its own book.

Watch The Commerce Inn for meWhen do The Commerce Inn reservations open?
Fourteen days ahead, in the restaurant’s words. The note on its Resy page reads, as of October 2026: “Walk-ins welcome. Reservations for Brunch and Dinner are offered online 14 days in advance.” The rule is an old one: Galavante wrote in July 2022 that “reservations are limited and only offered 14 days in advance online.” The window rolls, so one new date appears each day rather than a fortnight at once.
The hour is the part the restaurant does not publish. The tracker AutoRes says new dates open 13 days out at 10am Eastern. Reservation Booker says 13 days out at 12:00am. damnlines.com says 14 days and gives no hour, and Quenelle, which wrote up the restaurant on October 25, 2026, said plainly that it could not confirm a release time. The 13 against 14 is mostly a counting question: a 14-day window on Resy usually includes today, so the furthest date you can select sits 13 days after today. The hour is a real disagreement, 10am against midnight, and nothing from the restaurant settles it.
You can settle it yourself in one evening and one morning, on any ordinary day the week before it matters. At 11:55pm, open the Resy page and note the last date you can select. Look again at 12:05am. If a new date has appeared, the release is at midnight. If not, look again just after 10am. Whichever moment the calendar moves is the hour, and counting from that day to the new date gives you the window.
Here is the date math for a real target. Say you want brunch or dinner on Saturday, December 12, 2026. If the trackers’ 13-day count is right, that date first appears on Sunday, November 29: either at 12:00am, as Saturday night turns into Sunday, or at 10am Sunday morning. If the window turns out to be a literal 14 days, it appears on Saturday, November 28 instead. Both fall on Thanksgiving weekend, so set the reminder before you travel. Run the check the week before and you will know which of those moments to be on, and the same count holds for every booking after.
What “limited reservations” means at The Commerce Inn
The homepage puts it in two short lines: “Walk-ins always welcome. Limited reservations available.” Look closely at the Resy note too, because it names brunch and dinner only. The site lists four services: weekday breakfast and lunch, weekend brunch, nightly dinner and Sunday roasts. The note says nothing about weekday breakfast and lunch, so if a Tuesday at noon shows little or nothing on Resy, treat that meal as one for walking in.
The scarce slots are predictable. The Infatuation’s July 2026 review says “Brunch is the best time to visit The Commerce Inn,” then adds: “It’s also the busiest time, so book ahead.” damnlines.com says prime weekend brunch and Friday and Saturday dinner book up well before the window closes. A Monday dinner or a Wednesday breakfast is a different market altogether.
The restaurant’s site states no maximum party size, deposit or cancellation policy. Resy shows any fee on the screen before you confirm, so read it there. Time Out’s 2022 review described “tight church pew two-tops” on the bar side, which tells you the shape the room has most of. For a group, ask before you try to force it through Resy: the site lists (929) 302-6044 and welcome@thecommerceinn.com.
Does The Commerce Inn take walk-ins?
Yes, and it says so in two places: “Walk-ins always welcome” on its own homepage and “Walk-ins welcome” on Resy. There are two rooms to aim for. The site invites you to “join us in the dining room or the tavern,” and Time Out’s early review placed the white-tablecloth dining room on the left and the bar with its pews on the right. Welcome does not mean instant. The listings site happy-hour.nyc summarised Google reviews from September 2026 as a wait of about an hour.
The hours are what make the door work. The tavern runs daily from 9am to 11pm without a break, while the dining room serves breakfast and lunch from 9am to 3pm and dinner from 4pm to 11pm. So the likeliest walk-ins are a weekday breakfast near the 9am open, a mid-afternoon visit while the dining room changes over and the tavern keeps going, or a weeknight after 9pm. Come as one or two. Some listings still say dinner ends at 10pm, a holdover from the early days; the restaurant’s own site, its Instagram bio and its Michelin listing all say 11pm. Other hard rooms that hold space for walk-ins are collected in NYC hard restaurants that take walk-ins.
What to order at The Commerce Inn
The Infatuation’s July 2026 review told readers to skip lobster rolls for the lobster toast, “heavily dressed with lemon aioli,” said the patty melt “is always on special” at brunch and dinner, and suggested starting with the cold kippered trout with crispy fennel and horseradish. It found the cod cakes flat. The Michelin Guide’s inspectors pointed to potted shrimp and a dry-aged ribeye in butter, garlic and rosemary buried under fried onion rings. The site also advertises Sunday roasts, which makes Sunday one of the days worth booking early rather than leaving to the door.
How it compares with Via Carota, I Sodi and Buvette
Same owners, different books. Via Carota, a few blocks away on Grove Street, is the outlier: its Resy listing puts a limited number of tables online 30 days in advance at 10am, a month ahead rather than two weeks. Buvette’s Resy note uses the same 14-day wording as The Commerce Inn, and I Sodi also runs on roughly a two-week Resy window with no published hour. Down the street at 38 Commerce Street, Wild Cherry is the useful contrast: also 14 days, but on SevenRooms, at midnight, by its own FAQ. Two neighbours, two apps, and only one of them tells you the hour.
Cancellations on a two-week book
A two-week window means a lot of Saturday brunches are booked by people who are guessing about their weekend, and some of those guesses change in the last day or two. When a table is cancelled it goes straight back onto the same Resy calendar, visible to everyone looking at that moment, and it belongs to whoever confirms first. Resy’s Notify alert goes to everyone waiting on the date at once, which is why it so often arrives after the table has gone. Checking a few times a day catches the occasional return and misses most of them.
Watching The Commerce Inn’s Resy page
Every reserved route into The Commerce Inn comes down to being on its Resy page in the instant a table exists: the unpublished hour when your date opens, or the unscheduled minute when someone gives back a Saturday brunch. SeatSwiper watches Resy, SevenRooms and OpenTable, and The Commerce Inn books on Resy, so one watch covers the release and the cancellations that follow it, whether the release turns out to be at midnight or 10am. You give it your dates and party size, set it once, and it books the table the moment one opens or someone cancels. It books on your own Resy account, in your name, for your own meal, and nothing is resold or transferred. It can’t get your account banned, because it books on your own account and checks every few minutes, never nonstop. The first booking is free. After that it is a flat $5, charged only when it actually books the table, with no subscription. A cancellation watch on a date that is already full costs $1 to start, charged when the watch begins even if no table ever opens; that $1 is not covered by the free first booking and is not refunded, and the same $5 applies if the watch wins you the table. The honest limits: it only works on those three platforms, it needs your Resy login to book in your name, it can lose a race for a single table, and it cannot stand at the door or hold a tavern seat for you. Walk-ins are still yours to do.
FAQ
Is The Commerce Inn on Resy or OpenTable?
Resy. The only booking link on thecommerceinn.com goes to its Resy page, and as of October 2026 there is no OpenTable or SevenRooms listing for it. OpenTable still shows Fifty, the restaurant that closed at 50 Commerce Street in 2018, and Cafe Commerce on the Upper East Side is a different restaurant with its own Resy book, so go through the restaurant’s own link.
When do The Commerce Inn reservations open?
Fourteen days in advance, for brunch and dinner, per the note on its Resy page as of October 2026. The restaurant does not publish the hour: AutoRes says 13 days out at 10am Eastern, Reservation Booker says 13 days at midnight. The 13 is usually Resy counting today. Note the last selectable date at 11:55pm, check again at 12:05am and after 10am, and you will know the hour.
Does The Commerce Inn take walk-ins?
Yes. Its homepage says “Walk-ins always welcome,” and its Resy note says the same. The tavern runs daily from 9am to 11pm without a break, while the dining room serves breakfast and lunch from 9am to 3pm and dinner from 4pm to 11pm. A weekday breakfast, mid-afternoon or a weeknight after 9pm are the easiest walk-ins; weekend brunch is the busiest.
Can SeatSwiper get me a table at The Commerce Inn?
It can watch The Commerce Inn, because it books on Resy, one of the three platforms SeatSwiper watches along with SevenRooms and OpenTable. Set your dates and party size once and it books on your own Resy account the moment a table appears at the release or someone cancels. It can lose a race for a single table, needs your Resy login, and cannot hold a seat in the tavern.
