Wild Cherry Reservations (NYC): SevenRooms at Midnight, 14 Days Out

George Yates · Founder, SeatSwiper · Updated October 24, 2026

How do you get a reservation at Wild Cherry in NYC?Wild Cherry, inside the Cherry Lane Theatre at 38 Commerce Street, books on SevenRooms, not OpenTable. Its FAQ says reservations open at midnight, fourteen days in advance, and with twelve tables and twelve bar stools there is no hidden inventory. The bar and a nightly waitlist are kept for walk-ins from the 5pm open; arrive by 4:30pm.

Wild Cherry sits at 38 Commerce Street in the West Village, inside the lobby of the Cherry Lane Theatre, and it is the newest room from Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr, the pair behind Frenchette, Le Rock and the revived Le Veau d’Or. The restaurant calls itself a bar restaurant that evokes “an intimate supper club,” a place where theatre goers can stop in before or after a show and everyone else can make a night of it. It is also very small, and since it opened it has been one of the harder books below 14th Street. This guide covers how the book works as of October 2026, which app it is actually on (the answer trips people up), the exact minute new dates appear, and the bar and waitlist that the restaurant keeps for people who show up without a reservation.

Is Wild Cherry on OpenTable or SevenRooms?

SevenRooms. The Reserve button on wildcherrynyc.com opens Wild Cherry’s own SevenRooms page, and the restaurant’s FAQ is explicit about it: reservations are released “exclusively via SevenRooms.” The confusion is understandable, because the internet has not caught up. An old Wild Cherry listing on OpenTable still turns up in search results, a popular line tracker still quotes an earlier version of the FAQ that named OpenTable, and even the current FAQ still has a leftover line inviting you to join “the OpenTable notify list.” Treat all of that as history. If you have been refreshing OpenTable at midnight and seeing nothing, that is why. The live calendar is the SevenRooms one, and a SevenRooms room does not show up in a search on any of the big consumer apps, so go through the restaurant’s own link every time. How SevenRooms books differ from Resy and OpenTable is laid out in SevenRooms hidden reservations.

When do Wild Cherry reservations open? Midnight, 14 days out

The restaurant states the rule itself, which is rarer than it should be. Its FAQ, checked October 24, 2026: “Reservations are released exclusively via SevenRooms at 12:00 AM (midnight), fourteen days in advance.” The tracker AutoRes logs the same thing, 14 days out at midnight Eastern, so there is no disagreement to untangle. One new date appears each night as the clock turns, rather than a month of dates at once.

The date math is where people slip. Midnight belongs to the day that is starting, not the one that is ending. Say you want dinner on Saturday, November 14, 2026. Fourteen days back is Saturday, October 31, so the moment to be on the SevenRooms page is 12:00am as Friday, October 30 turns into Saturday the 31st. If November 14 is there, that was your moment. If the calendar stops on the 13th, the count runs one day shorter than you assumed, and your date opens at midnight the following night. Either way you will know the count for every booking after that. The cheapest way to check it before it matters: open the SevenRooms page any afternoon, move the calendar forward until dates stop being selectable, and count from today to the last one.

How small the room really is

Wild Cherry does not hide behind vague talk about demand. Its FAQ says, as of October 2026: “What’s shown online reflects our full availability. With just twelve tables in our dining room and twelve bar stools, availability is exceptionally limited.” That first sentence is worth taking at face value. There is no secret second book and no phone line that knows something SevenRooms does not, so if the calendar is empty, the restaurant is telling you the tables are taken, not hidden.

Party size matters more here than almost anywhere. The largest table seats eight, anything over eight becomes a full buyout, and the FAQ warns that there is “extremely limited availability for parties over 4 people.” Two is the shape the room has the most of. The restaurant also asks that you book “true to size,” and that you honor the number you reserved for “to avoid any additional fees,” so do not book a four and turn up as two, or book a two and try to squeeze in a third. Read the fee terms on the SevenRooms screen before you confirm, since the FAQ mentions fees without stating them.

Does Wild Cherry take walk-ins?

Yes, and it is the most realistic way in for a lot of people. The restaurant’s FAQ says “Our twelve-seat bar is reserved for walk-in guests and limited reservations,” and that walk-in space is “very limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.” It also says some space is kept open for walk-ins every night, filled from a waitlist that starts in person when the doors open at 5pm. So the play is to be there before 5pm, not at 5pm.

The Infatuation’s January 2026 review gives a sense of the queue: “When we came at 4:50pm on a Wednesday, there were around eight walk-ins ahead of us in line, and we all got seated at 5pm when the restaurant opened. If it’s a weekend, get here by 4:30pm.” One or two people clear a bar line far faster than four. A weeknight beats a Friday. And because the room sits in a working theatre, curtain times move the crowd: the pre-show rush lands early, so a seat can loosen once the audience heads in. Other hard downtown rooms that keep a door open like this are collected in NYC hard restaurants that take walk-ins.

Hours, the theatre and the menu

The homepage lists Wild Cherry as open every day, 5pm to 11pm, with dinner served until 9:30pm, so the last hour and a half is drinks rather than a full meal. If you are seeing a show at the Cherry Lane, the restaurant asks that you allow an hour and a half to eat before curtain, which makes a 5pm or 5:30pm booking the natural pre-theatre slot. Those early tables are also the ones local diners are least keen on, which is useful if you have no ticket at all.

As for what to order, The Infatuation called the cheeseburger “the best thing here” and flagged “a $50+ club sandwich” made with lobster, alongside frozen custard and a coconut cake. If you are bringing a bottle, the corkage rule is one 750ml bottle per two guests, at $100 for still wine and $150 for Champagne, per the FAQ. Buyouts start at 25 guests and need to be fully booked at least a month out.

Shoulder times and cancellations

With twelve tables, the edges of the night carry most of the slack. A 5pm table, or the last dinner seatings before 9:30pm, faces less competition than 7:30pm, and Sunday through Wednesday is a different book from Thursday through Saturday. Because Wild Cherry releases one date per night, missing a midnight costs you one date, not a month; the next one opens tomorrow.

Over a fortnight, though, cancellations are the bigger door. When someone gives a table back it reappears on the same SevenRooms calendar, visible to everyone looking at that moment, and it goes to whoever confirms first. In a room this small that might be a single two-top, and returns tend to bunch in the day or two before the date as plans firm up. Checking the page a few times a day catches the occasional one and misses most of them. If Wild Cherry is full, the same team’s Frenchette in Tribeca is the obvious second try, and the hardest restaurants to book in NYC guide shows where both sit against the rest of the city.

Full disclosure: SeatSwiper is my product. Everything in this guide works without it. The last section explains where it helps and exactly what it costs.

Watching Wild Cherry’s SevenRooms calendar

Every route to a Wild Cherry table other than the bar comes down to being on its SevenRooms page in the instant a table exists: midnight on the night your date opens, or the unscheduled minute when someone gives back a Thursday. SeatSwiper watches SevenRooms, Resy and OpenTable, and Wild Cherry books on SevenRooms, so one watch covers both the midnight release and the cancellations that follow it. You give it your dates and party size, set it once, and it books the table the moment one opens or someone cancels, while you sleep through midnight. It books on your own SevenRooms account, in your name, for your own dinner, and nothing is resold or transferred. The first booking is free. After that it is a flat $5, charged only when it actually books the table, with no subscription. A cancellation watch on a date that is already full costs $1 to start, charged when the watch begins even if no table ever opens; that $1 is not covered by the free first booking and is not refunded, and the same $5 applies if the watch wins you the table. The honest limits: it only works on those three platforms, it needs your SevenRooms login to book in your name, it can lose a race for a single table, and it cannot stand in the 4:30pm line or hold a bar stool for you. The bar stays first come, first served.

FAQ

Is Wild Cherry on OpenTable or SevenRooms?

SevenRooms. As of October 2026 the Reserve button on wildcherrynyc.com opens Wild Cherry’s own SevenRooms page, and its FAQ says reservations are released exclusively via SevenRooms. An old OpenTable listing still shows up in search and some trackers quote an earlier FAQ that named OpenTable, so go through the restaurant’s own link rather than an app search.

When do Wild Cherry reservations open?

At midnight, fourteen days in advance, in the restaurant’s own words: “Reservations are released exclusively via SevenRooms at 12:00 AM (midnight), fourteen days in advance.” Midnight belongs to the day that is starting, so for a Saturday dinner be on the SevenRooms page as the Friday two weeks earlier turns into Saturday, and check the last selectable date once to confirm the count.

Does Wild Cherry take walk-ins?

Yes. Its twelve-seat bar is kept for walk-ins and a few reservations, and some space is held every night for a walk-in waitlist that starts in person when the doors open at 5pm. The Infatuation found about eight people in line at 4:50pm on a Wednesday and advised arriving by 4:30pm on weekends. Come as one or two.

How big a party can Wild Cherry seat?

Its largest table seats eight, and anything bigger becomes a full buyout, which needs at least 25 guests and a month’s notice. The restaurant warns that availability for parties over four is extremely limited, because the dining room has only twelve tables, and it asks that you book true to size to avoid fees. Two is the easiest shape to land.
