Start a Whistler watchWhistler’s dinner scene fits inside a walk. Most of the rooms people plan around sit along the Village Stroll, with the Upper Village a few minutes’ stroll away at the base of Blackcomb and Creekside a short ride south. That compactness hides two things a visitor trips over. The famous trio here books on a different app from nearly everyone else. And Whistler restaurants publish their party-size limits unusually plainly, which settles more group dinners than the calendar does. Of the 21 Whistler restaurants this guide draws on, 16 book on OpenTable, four on SevenRooms and one on Resy, all on Pacific time.
The Toptable rooms are on SevenRooms
Araxi, Il Caminetto and Bar Oso belong to one company, Toptable Group, which lists all three on its site, and Il Caminetto’s site says culinary director James Walt oversees the kitchens of Araxi, Bar Oso and Il Caminetto. All three take reservations through SevenRooms, which has no central marketplace in the way OpenTable does, so you book from each restaurant’s own reservations page. The SevenRooms explainer covers how those pages behave.
None of the three publishes a booking window. That matters most in October and November, when SevenRooms restaurants in ski towns often have not loaded their winter shifts. A blank December on Araxi’s page in late autumn is more likely an unloaded book than a full one, so check again each week rather than writing the night off. Bar Oso is the soft entry: when it reopened in 2023 it seated everyone first come, first served, and it now takes SevenRooms bookings while still welcoming walk-ins.

A ski trip often means six to ten people, and Whistler’s restaurants are specific about where online booking stops. These come from the venues’ own pages, as of October 2026:
- Wild Blue takes six or fewer on OpenTable. Seven or more book by email or phone, and its contact page sends groups over 12 to the events team. Tables booked before 7:30pm get two hours, so book after 7:30 if you want to linger.
- Rimrock Cafe books up to 90 days ahead for parties of up to eight. Nine or more go by email, and it says it does not allow one group to book multiple tables without asking first, so splitting a ten into two fives online will not work.
- 21 Steps takes one to six on Resy and seven or more by email. It books in two-hour slots and holds back a third of the room for walk-ins every night.
- Teppan Village asks groups larger than nine, or several parties wanting to sit together, to call. Seatings between 4:00 and 7:30pm are capped at 90 minutes, and every booking needs a card.
For a bigger group the honest plan is to email early, choose a later seating, and keep a second, smaller booking as insurance. The group ski-trip dinner guide goes further on splitting a table without annoying the restaurant.
Rooms that are closed, moving or reopening this winter
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is mid-change. Its Wildflower and Grill Room closed for renovation from August to December 2026, the hotel is serving their dishes in the Mallard Lounge meanwhile, and its winter dining guide lists the Wildflower Grill opening in December 2026. The Wildflower’s OpenTable book still reaches about a year out, so check which room a booking is actually for. The hotel’s Chalet reopens for the winter on November 6, 2026. In Creekside, Nita Lake Lodge’s site says The Den is temporarily closed for dinner while breakfast carries on, so confirm before you plan a night around it.
In the Village
- Wild Blue (OpenTable, Whistler Village). Pacific Northwest seafood from Alex Chen and Neil Henderson, open since 2022, and on its own site named one of North America’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2026. The full à la carte menu runs Friday and Saturday, with a prix fixe Sunday to Thursday. Its site states no window, but OpenTable’s schedule as of October 2026 opens a whole month at a time, two months ahead, at 12:00pm Pacific on the 1st: all of January on November 1 at noon, February on December 1. December opened on October 1, so holiday-week tables now come from cancellations. Book Wild Blue with SeatSwiper
- Araxi Restaurant & Oyster Bar (SevenRooms, Whistler Village). The Village Square farm-to-table room with an oyster bar, celebrating 45 years. Dinner starts at 5:00pm on weekdays and 4:30pm at weekends, and the early weekend start is the seating most worth trying for after a ski day. Book Araxi with SeatSwiper
- Il Caminetto (SevenRooms, Whistler Village). Toptable’s Italian on the Village Stroll, with pasta rolled in-house each morning and a silver for best restaurant in Whistler in Vancouver Magazine’s 2026 awards. No window published. Book Il Caminetto with SeatSwiper
- Bar Oso (SevenRooms, Whistler Village). Spanish-leaning tapas, house charcuterie and cocktails, steps from Araxi on Village Square. The best fallback when the bigger Toptable rooms are full, because walk-ins still get seated here. Book Bar Oso with SeatSwiper
- 21 Steps Kitchen + Bar (Resy, Whistler Village). Locally owned since 2004, upstairs with mountain views and generous comfort food. If Resy is full, go in person and put your name on the walk-in list; it texts you when a table frees up, and it will not take waitlist names by phone. Book 21 Steps with SeatSwiper
- Trattoria Di Como (OpenTable, Whistler Village). A revival of a Village Italian with more than three decades behind it, open Wednesday to Sunday and reached through the Mountainside pool deck entrance. About 90 days of book. Book Trattoria Di Como with SeatSwiper
- Teppan Village (OpenTable, Whistler Village). Family-owned teppanyaki since 1989, with AAA Alberta steak and Ocean Wise seafood. The book runs about 365 days, and the shared grill tables suit a group better than most rooms in the village. Book Teppan Village with SeatSwiper
Upper Village, Creekside and Village North
- SIDECUT Steakhouse (OpenTable, Upper Village). The Four Seasons steakhouse, with Canadian prime beef, A5 Wagyu and a British Columbia-heavy wine list. About 151 days of book reaches into late March, so the holidays and February are already open. Book SIDECUT Steakhouse with SeatSwiper
- The Wildflower (OpenTable, Upper Village). The Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s main restaurant, cooking hyper-local seasonal dishes with a deep wine list. Its book runs about a year, but read the renovation note above before you rely on it. Book The Wildflower with SeatSwiper
- The Chalet (OpenTable, Upper Village). The Chateau’s winter-only fondue room: cheese fondue, schnitzel, rösti and a schnapps wagon, nightly from 5:00pm once it reopens. About 151 days of book, and the hotel runs a free shuttle to it. Book The Chalet with SeatSwiper
- Rimrock Cafe (OpenTable, Creekside). Coastal seafood and wild game in a cabin-like room, open since 1986. Ninety days for up to eight puts Presidents’ Day Saturday into reach on November 15 and mid-March on December 13, at midnight Pacific. Book Rimrock Cafe with SeatSwiper
- The Den at Nita Lake Lodge (OpenTable, Creekside). Seasonal farm-to-table cooking on the lake, with a book about 60 days deep once dinner service returns. Book The Den with SeatSwiper
- Hy’s Steakhouse (OpenTable, Village North). The Whistler room of the long-running Canadian steakhouse brand, with a book about 181 days deep, which reaches late April. Book Hy’s Steakhouse with SeatSwiper
- The Brickworks (OpenTable, Village North). A locally owned, industrial-style room with BC produce and craft drinks, and a book about 365 days deep. Book The Brickworks with SeatSwiper
When the busy weeks open
The weeks to plan hardest for are Christmas to New Year and the February long weekend, when the American Presidents’ Day and British Columbia’s Family Day both fall on Monday, February 15, 2027. The long books (Teppan Village, The Brickworks, Hy’s, SIDECUT) are open for all of it now. Wild Blue is the one real alarm in town: noon Pacific on December 1 opens its whole February, long weekend included. For the 90-day rooms, Rimrock and Trattoria Di Como, the Saturday of that weekend opens on November 15. For the holiday week, the holiday-week guide lays out which nights fill first, and the ski-trip planning guide works through the window arithmetic for a whole trip.
Where automation fits in Whistler
The Toptable rooms are the obvious case: no published window and a SevenRooms page that may only fill in once winter shifts load. SeatSwiper watches Araxi, Wild Blue, Rimrock or any other table on our Whistler list for your dates and party size, and books it the moment one opens, on your own SevenRooms, OpenTable or Resy account, in your name. Nothing is resold or transferred. Your first booking is free, then a flat $5, charged only when it actually books the table, no subscription, and a cancellation watch costs $1 to start, charged when the watch begins even if no table opens. It covers those three platforms only, needs your reservation account connected, and can lose a race for a single returned table. It also cannot hold your place in 21 Steps’ walk-in line or book a table of seven at Wild Blue that the restaurant only takes by email.
FAQ
Does Araxi in Whistler use OpenTable or SevenRooms?
SevenRooms. Araxi, Il Caminetto and Bar Oso all belong to Toptable Group and all book through SevenRooms pages linked from their own sites, not through OpenTable. None of the three publishes a booking window, and in October and November a blank December often means the winter shifts have not been loaded yet rather than that the room is full.
How far ahead can you book Rimrock Cafe in Whistler?
Up to 90 days, for parties of up to eight, according to Rimrock’s own reservations page. Groups of nine or more book by email, and the restaurant says one group cannot book several tables without checking with it first. At 90 days, the Saturday of the February long weekend opens on November 15 at midnight Pacific.
Does 21 Steps in Whistler take walk-ins?
Yes. 21 Steps holds back a third of the restaurant for walk-ins every evening, seated first come, first served: you add your name in person and it texts you when a table is ready, and it does not take waitlist names by phone. Parties of one to six can also book on Resy, and seven or more book by email.
When do Wild Blue reservations open?
By the month, at noon. Wild Blue’s own site states no window, but OpenTable’s schedule as of October 2026 opens a whole month two months ahead, on the 1st at 12:00pm Pacific: January on November 1, February on December 1. Online booking covers six or fewer; seven or more book by email or phone, and tables before 7:30pm come with a two-hour dining time.
Is The Chalet at Fairmont Chateau Whistler open in winter?
It is open only in winter. The hotel’s site says The Chalet reopens on November 6, 2026, serving fondue, schnitzel and rösti nightly from 5:00pm, with a free shuttle from the Chateau. It books on OpenTable, about 151 days ahead as of October 2026.
