Watch Schmuck for meSchmuck is the cocktail bar at 97 First Avenue, on the corner of East 6th Street in the East Village, opened in early 2025 by Moe Aljaff and Juliette Larrouy, the pair who made their name with Two Schmucks in Barcelona. At the ceremony in Milan on October 7, 2026, it came in at No. 11 on The World’s 50 Best Bars, its first appearance and the highest of the four New York bars that were the only US entries, and it took the list’s Best New Opening award as well. North America’s 50 Best Bars had already ranked it No. 4 for 2026. None of that has made the door any easier. Here is how the small Resy book works as of November 2026, and how to play the line, which is how most people get in.
Is Schmuck on Resy? How bookings work
Yes, Resy, and only for part of the bar. Schmuck’s website, schmucknyc.com, was still a placeholder when checked on November 1, 2026: no hours, no menu, no booking button, just a link to Instagram. The rules live in the bio of the bar’s own account, @schmuck.ny, which gives the address as “97 . 1ST . AVE” and then says, in two lines: “walk ins mostly, bookings @resy” and “Tuesday to Sunday, 4pm to close.” The link under the bio opens Schmuck’s Resy page. There is no OpenTable or SevenRooms listing.
Take “walk ins mostly” literally. Resy’s opening piece in February 2025 explained that the bookable part is the all-seated main room, called the Living Room, and that most of its seats are still kept for walk-ins. The second room, the Kitchen Table, takes no reservations at all, and Resy’s September 2026 guide still describes it as walk-ins only, with a totally different menu. At opening, Resy put the Living Room at around 50 seats and the Kitchen Table at around 24, including a 14-seat bar built around the kitchen table itself. A Resy booking is a small slice of one room.

Watch Schmuck for meWhen do Schmuck reservations open? 10am, 14 days out
The bar does not publish its window, but Resy does. Its guide to the city’s toughest reservations, updated September 10, 2026, says Living Room tables open “Fourteen days out at 10 a.m. for everyone, with a few reserved for members of Resy’s Global Dining Access program.” Four trackers say the same: AutoRes, JustReservd, Reservation Booker and itsadate.nyc all list 14 days at 10am Eastern. itsadate adds the detail that matters for counting: “The calendar shows 15 dates because today counts as the first one.” The only source that disagrees is Resy’s own February 2025 opening piece, which said seven days. That was the launch rule; 14 is the current one.
Fourteen days is two whole weeks, so every date opens on its own weekday. For a Living Room table on Saturday, December 12, 2026, be on Schmuck’s Resy page at 10am Eastern on Saturday, November 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. A Friday opens on a Friday morning, a Tuesday on a Tuesday. The Tuesday to Sunday schedule has one side effect: the date a Monday morning adds is itself a Monday, when the bar is closed (late on November 1, JustReservd listed Monday, November 16 as the next date due), so expect nothing at 10am on Mondays. To test the count, open the Resy page any afternoon, move the calendar to the last date you can select, and count from today.
The slots are few. Be signed in to Resy with a card saved before 9:59am, because each table goes to whoever confirms first. For a sense of the odds, the tracker AutoRes, which books tables for its own users, rated its success at Schmuck Low in November 2026: fewer than 40 percent of requests filled.
How many people can you book for, and what does it cost to cancel?
Small parties only. itsadate says “Resy books only one to five guests online,” and AutoRes says it can book parties of one to four, so the online ceiling sits at four or five depending on the tables offered that night. Six or more has no online route at all; itsadate adds that “no public large-party or private-dining route is listed.” A group’s best plan is to walk in early on a weeknight and ask for the Kitchen Table, which is built around one long communal table.
On cost, itsadate reports that a card is required and says to “Cancel or change at least two hours ahead; a later cancellation can cost $25 plus tax per guest, unless the restaurant waives it.” Schmuck’s own Resy policy text could not be read for this guide, and no source publishes a time limit or minimum spend, so read the confirmation screen before you book: that version binds you.
Does Schmuck take walk-ins?
Yes, and it is how most people get in. Resy’s September 2026 guide answers the question with “Yes!” and says the bar primarily takes walk-ins for the Living Room, while the Kitchen Table next door is walk-in only. The doors change with the weather. At opening each room had its own street entrance, the Living Room on the corner of First Avenue and 6th Street and the Kitchen Table on First Avenue itself. For winter, Resy’s guide says: “While it’s cold, you’ll enter through one main door for both spots, so let the host know what you’re looking for when you check in.” From now until spring, expect the one door.
There is a list. Resy’s 2025 piece said you could add your name to the Living Room waitlist in person, and a description in the bar’s own voice, reproduced on AutoRes’s page, says: “In addition to limited reservations, we welcome walk-ins and keep a waitlist each evening.” The Kitchen Table had standing room but, at opening, no running waitlist.
How long you wait depends almost entirely on when you arrive. Time Out’s review of December 2, 2025 says “lines continue to stretch down 1st Ave every night” and that “showing up without a reservation will almost certainly mean a wait.” Tammie Teclemariam, writing in New York magazine’s Grub Street in February 2025, got a bar seat within 15 minutes on a Wednesday, while a friend of hers was quoted two hours on a Saturday. The Infatuation’s advice was to “line up half an hour before they open,” which with the 4pm open means being on First Avenue by 3:30pm, earlier on a Friday or Saturday: Resy’s guide notes that “People tend to line up early for the first seating during the weekend.” The team’s other tip, per Resy, is to keep checking back through the night, because plans change. One or two people are seated far faster than four.
The closest comparison in the city is half a mile straight down the same avenue, where First Avenue becomes Allen Street below Houston: Double Chicken Please reservations work much the same way, mostly first come, first served with a small Resy book on top. Other hard rooms that keep a door open are collected in NYC hard restaurants that take walk-ins.
Hours, food and the drinks
The bio says Tuesday to Sunday, 4pm to close, and the bar is closed on Mondays. damnlines (citing Yelp) and En Primeur Club both put the close at 1am, and damnlines and itsadate both say the kitchen runs from 5pm to 11pm. Resy’s opening piece listed 6pm to 2am, so the start has moved two hours earlier since 2025.
Each room pours from its own list, and Resy says both the food and drink menus “rotate and update regularly.” Its September 2026 picks for the Living Room are the Larb Gai, the Schmuck Martini and the Versace Slippers; for the Kitchen Table, Le Banane, Strawberry & Cheese and Melon, Cheese, Pepper. To eat, it points to the white bean cacio e pepe, a puff pastry pizza with pesto and crushed potatoes with béarnaise foam. The 50 Best write-up describes the Schmuck Martini as “a frigid blend of gin, shochu, unaged apple brandy, dry vermouth and olive oil,” and a Fika of aged rum, cinnamon syrup and coffee liqueur. On price, The Infatuation put the Larb Gai, “a peanut-forward cognac cocktail,” at $19 in early 2025, and Grub Street said every cocktail on the opening menu cost $19.
Shoulder times and cancellations
Because so little is bookable, the shoulder at Schmuck is about the clock more than the calendar. damnlines says evenings shortly after the 4pm opening fill quickly, so be in line before 4, not at 4:30. The late end is the other edge: the kitchen stops at 11pm but the bar runs to 1am, so a drinks-only visit after 11 is the other window to try. Going by the waits reported, Tuesday and Wednesday are the best nights.
On Resy, the two-hour cancellation rule that itsadate reports decides when tables come back. Anyone avoiding the $25 a head charge can give a table up as late as two hours before, so returns can surface on the day itself, into the early evening, and each one goes to whoever confirms first. That is a reading of the rule, not a pattern the bar publishes. Resy’s Notify button alerts everyone waiting on that date at the same moment, which is why the alert so often lands after the table has gone; the mechanics are in why Resy Notify rarely works. Watching Schmuck’s Resy page
Every route to a Schmuck reservation runs through its Resy page in the instant a Living Room table exists: 10am two weeks out, or the unscheduled minute when someone gives one back. SeatSwiper watches Resy, SevenRooms and OpenTable, and Schmuck books on Resy, so one watch covers both the morning release and the cancellations after it. Give it your dates and party size, set it once, and it books the table the moment one opens or someone cancels, without you watching the clock at your desk. It books on your own Resy account, in your name, for your own night out, and nothing is resold or transferred. It can’t get your account banned, because it books on your own account and checks every few minutes, never nonstop. The first booking is free. After that it is a flat $5, charged only when it actually books the table, with no subscription. A cancellation watch on a date that is already full costs $1 to start, charged when the watch begins even if no table ever opens; that $1 is not covered by the free first booking and is not refunded, and the same $5 applies if the watch wins you the table. The honest limits: it only works on those three platforms, it needs your Resy login to book in your name, it can lose a race for a single table, and it can only book what Resy offers you online, which here means a Living Room table for a small party, not the few Resy holds back for Global Dining Access members. It cannot stand in the 3:30pm line on First Avenue or hold a seat at the Kitchen Table. Most of Schmuck is still walk-in, and that part is yours to do.
FAQ
When do Schmuck reservations open?
Fourteen days ahead at 10am Eastern, on Resy. Resy’s toughest-reservations guide, updated September 10, 2026, gives that rule and says a few tables are held for its Global Dining Access members; four trackers agree. Fourteen days is two weeks, so a Saturday opens on the Saturday morning two weeks before. Resy’s 2025 opening article said seven days, which is out of date.
Does Schmuck take walk-ins?
Mostly walk-ins. Its Instagram bio says “walk ins mostly, bookings @resy,” and the Kitchen Table room takes no reservations at all. While it is cold, Resy says both rooms share one main door, so tell the host which room you want. Lines form before the 4pm open, Tuesday to Sunday: The Infatuation advised lining up half an hour early. Come as one or two, on a weeknight.
Is Schmuck on Resy or OpenTable?
Resy. Schmuck’s website has no booking link as of November 2026, but the bio on its Instagram account, @schmuck.ny, says “bookings @resy” and links to its Resy page. Only part of the Living Room is bookable, for small parties (one to five online, per itsadate). There is no OpenTable or SevenRooms listing, and the third-party services that rank in search all point to the same Resy calendar.
Can SeatSwiper get me a table at Schmuck?
It can watch Schmuck, because Schmuck books on Resy, one of the three platforms SeatSwiper watches along with SevenRooms and OpenTable. Set your dates and party size once and it books on your own Resy account when a Living Room table opens at the 10am release or someone cancels. It can lose a race for a single table, needs your Resy login, and cannot hold a walk-in spot.
