Why the table is hard to get
Dinner is the bottleneck, and it is the only service most people ever search. Because the calendar is wide open, availability does not vanish all at once, it degrades in one specific band. Two things make that hour tight. The Applewood roast takes 48 hours in a dedicated dry aging fridge, only a limited number exist daily, and the confirmation asks you to pre order it when you book. One duck feeds four or five, so it pulls in exactly the large, slow parties the room can least afford to turn twice.
One more hard edge before you plan a group: parties of twelve or more are request only at every time, on every date checked. Eleven and under can still book instantly wherever a slot is open.
The off peak and back door angles
Set on 7pm on a Saturday and you are queuing for the one thing everybody wants. Everything else here is more available than the room’s reputation suggests.
- Take the weekday lunch. The newest and least contested service, Monday to Friday from 11:00am, with set menus leading on Crispy Sugar Coated Pork Buns and King Prawn Har Gow and the a la carte list open throughout. Same kitchen, same room, a fraction of the competition.
- Book the shoulders of dinner. A 5:00pm or a 9:15pm slot clears on nights when 7pm has already gone to request, and you get the identical menu.
- Move off Friday and Saturday. Weeknight dinner showed a request band of two slots where the weekend showed four or five. Tuesday and Wednesday are the soft spots.
- Split a big group. Twelve is a real cliff. Two tables of six, or a party of eleven, keeps you in instant booking territory.
