George Yates · Founder, SeatSwiper · Updated October 24, 2026

How do you get a reservation at Bong in Brooklyn?Bong, the Cambodian restaurant at 724 Sterling Place in Crown Heights, books on Resy, and its own Instagram bio says reservations are released at midnight, 21 days in advance, with walk-ins welcomed. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5:30pm. Other sources say 19 or 20 days, so check the last selectable date on Resy once.

Bong is a small Cambodian restaurant at 724 Sterling Place in Crown Heights, and it has gone from neighbourhood opening to one of the most chased tables in Brooklyn in about a year. Its own website describes it in four words, “Khmer food in Crown Heights,” and leaves the rest to the room. The Infatuation’s January 2026 review counted seven tables inside and credited chef Chakriya Un with the cooking, and the Michelin Guide added it to its New York selection in April 2026, calling it “a neighborhood fixture” where “reservations disappear quickly.” That last line is the problem this guide is about. Here is how the book works as of October 2026, the exact minute new dates appear, why three sources give three different numbers, and how to get in without a reservation at all.

How Bong reservations work: Resy, 21 days out at midnight

Bong books on Resy, and the restaurant publishes its rule in the one place it actually keeps current: the bio of its Instagram account. Read on October 24, 2026, it says, in capitals: “TUES- SUN, BOOK ON RESY” and “RESERVATIONS RELEASED MIDNIGHT, 21 DAYS IN ADVANCE, NO DMS PLS.” The link in the bio goes to Bong’s Resy page. So the window is three weeks, one new date at a time, and the hour is midnight Eastern, which favours anyone who is still up rather than anyone with a 10am alarm. The tracker AutoRes logs the same 21 days at midnight.

Note the “NO DMS PLS.” Messaging the account for a table is not a back channel, and the restaurant has asked people to stop. The website’s contact address exists, but it is for questions, not for squeezing a party of four into a Saturday that Resy shows as full. The Resy calendar is the book.

21 days, 20 or 19? The counting problem

If you have read other guides to Bong you have seen different numbers. The Infatuation’s review says reservations open 20 days in advance at midnight. Reservation Booker lists 19. Resy’s own post from the 2025 opening said one week out at 9am, which is simply out of date; the restaurant changed its rules as demand grew. The bio’s 21 is the restaurant’s current word, and the gap between 21 and 20 is usually a counting question rather than a disagreement: whether today counts as the first of the 21 dates.

Settle it once and it stays settled. Say you want dinner on Saturday, November 21, 2026. Twenty-one days back is Saturday, October 31, so be on Bong’s Resy page at midnight as Friday, October 30 turns into Saturday the 31st. If November 21 has appeared, the bio’s count is exact. If the calendar stops on the 20th, your date opens at midnight the next night, and you now know the count for every future booking. The cheap version of the same check: open the Resy page any afternoon, scroll forward until dates grey out, and count from today to the last selectable one.

Hours, and the night it is closed

Bong serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday, 5:30pm to 11pm, according to its Michelin Guide listing, and it is closed on Mondays, which the bio’s “TUES- SUN” confirms. Six nights a week across seven tables is not much inventory, and the late close is useful: a 9:30pm or later table is a different competition from 7:30pm, and the kitchen is cooking the same menu.

The menu is built for sharing, which matters for how you book. Michelin’s inspectors wrote that it “begs for a group,” singling out plea satch ko, a Cambodian beef salad, and a crispy whole fish served with green mango sauce over chilled vermicelli with everything for lettuce wraps. The Infatuation’s list adds golden squid, Cambo corn, grilled jowl with melons and Mama Kim’s lobster. A party of four eats this menu best and is also the hardest shape to book in a room this size, so decide in advance whether you would rather go as two on a good night or four on a quieter one.

Does Bong take walk-ins?

Yes, according to the restaurant. The bio’s third line is “WALK-INS WELCOMED.” Not every source agrees on how much that is worth: The Infatuation’s January review said Bong was officially reservation-only, while noting that you could still try to walk in and that extra outdoor tables appear when the weather is warm. Michelin’s advice is the practical version: “arrive early in order to jockey for a spot at their counter.” Put those together and the walk-in play is clear enough. Be on Sterling Place before the 5:30pm open, come as one or two, and pick a weeknight. Outdoor seating, where it exists, is a warm-weather bonus, so do not count on it in winter.

If you are making a Brooklyn night of it and Bong is full, The Four Horsemen in Williamsburg and Laser Wolf on the Williamsburg rooftop are two other hard Brooklyn books with their own guides: The Four Horsemen and Laser Wolf Brooklyn. The wider list of New York rooms that keep a walk-in door open is in NYC hard restaurants that take walk-ins.

Cancellations: the second way onto the Resy page

A three-week window means people book Bong for plans that are still three weeks from being real, and some of them fall through. When a table is cancelled it goes straight back onto the same Resy calendar, visible to everyone looking at that moment, and it belongs to whoever confirms first. In a seven-table room that might be one two-top on a Thursday, and returned tables tend to bunch in the last day or two before the date. Resy’s Notify button alerts everyone waiting on the same date at once, which is why the alert so often lands after the table has gone; the mechanics are in why Resy Notify rarely works. Full disclosure: SeatSwiper is my product. Everything in this guide works without it. The last section explains where it helps and exactly what it costs.

Watching Bong’s Resy page

Every route to a Bong table other than the door comes down to being on its Resy page in the instant a table exists: midnight on the night your date opens, or the unscheduled minute when someone gives back a table. SeatSwiper watches Resy, SevenRooms and OpenTable, and Bong books on Resy, so one watch covers the midnight release and the cancellations that come after it. Give it your dates and party size, set it once, and it books the table the moment one opens or someone cancels, without you staying up for midnight. It books on your own Resy account, in your name, for your own dinner, and nothing is resold or transferred. The first booking is free. After that it is a flat $5, charged only when it actually books the table, with no subscription. A cancellation watch on a date that is already full costs $1 to start, charged when the watch begins even if no table ever opens; that $1 is not covered by the free first booking and is not refunded, and the same $5 applies if the watch wins you the table. The honest limits: it only works on those three platforms, it needs your Resy login to book in your name, it can lose a race for a single table, and it cannot put your name down at the door. Walk-ins are still yours to do.

FAQ

When do Bong reservations open?

At midnight, 21 days in advance, on Resy. That is the restaurant’s own rule, from its Instagram bio as of October 2026: “RESERVATIONS RELEASED MIDNIGHT, 21 DAYS IN ADVANCE.” The Infatuation says 20 days and one tracker says 19, which is mostly a question of whether today counts. Check the last selectable date on Resy once and you will know the count.

Does Bong take walk-ins?

Its bio says “WALK-INS WELCOMED,” and the Michelin Guide advises arriving early to jockey for a spot at the counter. The Infatuation called it officially reservation-only in January 2026, while noting extra outdoor tables in warm weather. Be there before the 5:30pm open, as one or two people, on a weeknight.

What days is Bong open?

Tuesday through Sunday, with dinner from 5:30pm to 11pm according to its Michelin Guide listing. It is closed on Mondays, which matches the “TUES- SUN” in the restaurant’s own bio. The late close helps: a 9:30pm table faces much less competition than 7:30pm, with the same menu.
